Learn moreFounded in 1922, the Wantagh Fire District was born from a simple conviction: every neighbor deserves a rapid, skilled response when danger strikes. What began as a small volunteer crew has grown into one of Long Island's most respected fire districts.
Today, our team of dedicated volunteer firefighters and EMTs responds to hundreds of calls each year — from structure fires and car accidents to medical emergencies and natural gas leaks. We train continuously, maintain state-of-the-art equipment, and never stop learning.
But beyond the sirens and the uniforms, we're your neighbors. We shop at the same stores, send our kids to the same schools, and share the same stake in making Wantagh a safer place to live.
Whether you want to volunteer, donate, or simply learn how to keep your family safe — there's a place for you here.
No prior experience required. We provide full training — including firefighter academy, EMT certification, and specialized rescue courses.
